The Museum of Byzantine History located on Dexamenis Square has an interesting collection of icons, sculpture, mosaics, and other Byzantine artifacts from the 12th to 17th centuries. The Costume highlights Kastoria’s daily life while the Folklore Museum, housed in the mansion of Nerandzis-Aïvazis, exhibits material relics of the region. The Eco-Museum is also worth visiting. While touring the city, be sure to check out the remarkable stone bridges which are the hallmarks of Kastoria’s traditional architecture.

Ragoutsaria is the city’s annual carnival held in January. Music, dance, street parades and wine drinking are the symbols of this colorful event. Paliapoules is another popular event but is very small and occurs among family members. In July, there is a major festival to celebrate the prophet Elija. Orestia is a lively chorus festival in Argos Orestiko while the River Party in August is a music festival taking place on the Aliakmonas river in Nestorio, which attracts many young people.
