or Kavala accommodation? Kavala is the second largest city in northern Greece; it is the principal seaport of east Macedonia and the capital of Kavala prefecture. It's located on the Bay of Kavala, across from the island of Thasos and was built on the ancient city of Neopolis.
The harbour in Kavala is particularly colorful with its numerous amount of brightly coloured fishing caiques moored along the waterfront. Among the city's impressive landmarks are the old city walls, the marvelous Byzantine castle, and the Kamares the aqueduct which was erected by Suleiman the Magnificent in the 16th century.
Mehmet Ali's house built in the eighteenth century and the Imaret, a Turkish building are other impressive monuments in Kavala and are worth a visit. You can also take a walk up to Profitis Ilias to admire the panoramic view over the city which takes you through the fascinating old district.
