It is known for being the location of the summer home of former US President George H. W. Bush who had invited several world leaders to the residence; his son, former US President George W. Bush had also invited world leaders there. Aside from the Bush family, many wealthy families from other places in the Northeast also have summer homes in the area. Thus, Kennebunkport is considered to be one of the Northeast’s most expensive vacation areas.
Today, the area is also home to the Kennebunkport Recreation, Seashore Trolley Museum, Pineapple Ketch, Cape Arundel Golf Club, and other attractions.
