Kihei on Hawaii’s Maui Island, may not be the prettiest destination on Hawaii, with it’s proliferation of hotels, but it is one of the hottest on the island, with it’s windless climate, and it’s close enough to everything to make it an ideal base to explore. Kamaole Beach, which is actually three beaches with the same name, is the most popular beach in Kihei, and since sun, sand and sea is what Hawaii is all about, a must see. Snorkeling trips are popular from the beach, and if you are in Kihei in winter, you will probably spot a few whales too. Most of the attractions of Kihei are a little way outside the town itself, and with Wailea and other popular and beautiful beach resort areas nearby, and Haleakala National Park just inland, offering a taste of natural Maui.
