or Kollam accommodation? Kollam is a city located 71 km north of the capital, Thirumullavaram in Kerala, India. The town is renowned for its cashew and coir processing and manufacturing as well as being the capital of the Kingdom VENAD in the 9th century.
The town has numerous attractions such as the Children’s traffic park and the 200 year old Government guest house which is the located in close proximity to notorious Ashtamudi Lake which has a variety of rare trees and shrubs. There is also the Adventure Park, and Thangassery Light House situated in the centre of the town.
Thirumullavaram Beach and the Mahatma Gandhi beach are two beaches just a few kilometres away from the town centre for those who enjoy swimming and water sport activities. The boat trip between Kollam and Alappuzha are the longest and offer one of most fascinating experience on the backwaters of Kerala and is worth a ride. The Sasthamcottah Lake is another spot located 19 kilometres from the town that is worth a visit. The Lake is the biggest one in the Kerala district and also serves as the source of drinking water.
There are many fairs and festival held throughout the year. A few of these include the Kerala Tourism boat races which are held in January and the crafts festivals held in December to January.
