or Koloa accommodation? Koloa is a populated community in the islands of Kauai, Hawaii. This is the site of the first plantation in Hawaii. King Kamehameha III leased the land to Duncan McBryde in 1835 and a plantation was erected, which was composed of sugar mills and barracks for workers. Known as the Old Sugar Mill of Koloa, the remnants of the first sugar plantation in Hawaii can still be found just across the street from a cluster of shops in two, marked by a commemorative plaque.
Koloa is home to some of the oldest buildings in Hawaii and popular tourist attraction is the Koloa Plantation Day which celebrates with parades, music, fairs and storytelling. The downtown area centers around an old banyan tree. One can find numerous shops and restaurants in town. Koloa’s town water reservoir is also a good fishing spot for both locals and tourists.
