Because of it’s reputation as a party town, with most of it’s attractions coming into their own after dark, it may seem that there’s nothing to see in Lahaina during the day. This is not strictly true – the Banyan Tree, for instance, in the centre of town, is fascinating to visit, and the Carthaginian 2, a replica whaling ship in the Lahaina Small Boat Harbor is another sight worth a visit. The Old Lahaina Luau is known as one of the oldest, and best, in the Pacific, and if you want to taste local cuisine, enjoy displays like fire dancing and hula, and sample everything else Hawaiian, this is where to do it. The Sugar Cane Train, the only one in Hawaii, that travels between Lahaina and Kaanapali, is another great way to see the island, and if you are in the town at Halloween, don’t miss the celebration, with thousands of costumed revelers!
