Searching for hotels in Lancaster (California) (United States) or Lancaster (California) accommodation?  Lancaster is the eight largest city in the county of Los Angeles, California, and is located 70 miles north of Los Angeles in the Antelope Valley. It is bordered by the San Gabriel Mountain range to the South which separates it from the Los Angeles Valley, and by the Tehachapi Mountain Range to the north. The origins of the city’s name are not clear, although it is believed that it was either taken from Lancaster, Pennsylvania or Lancaster in Lancashire, England.

A large area of the city was originally purchased by real estate developer M.L. Wicks from the Southern Pacific Railroad Company. However, the city only saw real and rapid development with the advent of the aerospace industry. The United States Army Air Force started conducting tests in the 1930s. The city is now home to the Edward’s Air Force Base. Boeing, Lockheed and Northrop also have manufacturing plants at the US Air Force Plant which lies south of Lancaster. Former employees of the aviation industry were also the first home buyers and owners that eventually comprised the residential community of the city.

Attractions to see in the city include Essex House Hotel, Lancaster Aerospace Walk of Honor which was built to commemorate pilots affiliated with Edwards Air Force Base, and the Lancaster Municipal Stadium, home to the Lancaster Jet Hawks. The city is also home to various festivals and events, among them the California Poppy Festival, Celebrate Downtown Lancaster, a famous farmer’s market, and Bark at the Park, a gathering that caters to dogs and dog lovers in the city.
