or Lijiang accommodation? Unlike most cities in China, Lijiang has an intact Old City full of cobbled streets, rickety old wooden buildings and gushing canals (it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Unfortunately, this has made it a favourite with the tour group hoards.
The big drawcard in Lijiang is the Old City area, and it's a nice place just to stroll and admire the surroundings. Other attractions are Mu Palace, which is where the Mu Clan of the Naxi people ruled for over 400 years. It's a large complex. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is a mountain massif visible from Lijiang that can be climbed on foot, by mule, or by cable car. It offers great views from the top. For a dose of culture, check out the Naxi Concert Hall for a show, and at night float a Styrofoam boat with candle down one of the waterways in the Old City.
