or Lompoc accommodation? Lompoc, known as the City of Arts and Flowers, is part of Santa Barbara County, California, United States. Based on the 2000 Census, the city is inhabited by 41,103 residents.
Lompoc was once inhabited by the Chumash American Indian tribe. The Chumash named the area as Lum Poc which means little lagoon or little lake. The Spaniards came and built the Mission La Purísima Concepción; they called the area as lumpoco.
When the US gained control of the area, the land in the surrounding valley was acquired by Albert Diblee, Thomas Diblee, and William Welles Hollister who then sold a portion to the Lompoc Valley Land Company. The portion sold to the company is the place where the city now stands. The area was incorporated as city in 1888.
As a city near a valley, Lompoc has nice views and soil ideal for plants so that it is notable for the many flowers that grow or are tended all over the city. It is also known for the La Purisima Golf Course, Lompoc Aquatic Center, and various tours around the area.
