The city was also named as a “High Tech Hot Spot” by one of the local magazines.

Madison Heights once belonged to Royal Oak Township but was incorporated as a city on January 17, 1955 and was later chartered in December of that year. It was also the largest suburban place in the Metro Detroit area at around the time that it was chartered.
