or Maple Grove accommodation? Maple Falls is an area in Whatcom County, Washington, that started as a settlement for Canadian migrants. Located in along Mount Baker Highway East of Bellingham, Maple Falls is one of the many towns and communities that comprise the Mount Baker Foothills area, along with Acme, Deming, and Nugents Corner, to name a few.
One of settlers who made this area his home was Herbert Everant Leavitt who took up a homestead in the county in 1888. He eventually opened a blacksmith shop and restaurant in Whatcom County and served as sheriff for 24 years.
The area is home to a number of local attractions, not to mention quaint and cozy bed and breakfasts and restaurants. Local attractions include Silver Lake, a popular destination for locals and tourists. The lake is home to a variety of wildlife, from the osprey and the bald eagle to the blue heron and the trout. This makes the lake a destination for fishermen from May to October. The place is also popular among hang gliders, who take off from the nearby Black Mountain and land on the banks of the lake.
