or Marina accommodation? A seaside area of Los Angeles County, Marina del Rey has a Fisherman’s Village with views of the largest man-made small boat harbors in the United states. According to the Los Angeles Times in 1997, the harbor is ‘perhaps the county’s most valuable resource.’ Marina del Rey lies north of Playa del Rey and southeast Venice near the Ballona Creek mouth. It is also located four miles north of the Los Angeles International Airport.
Prior to its becoming a small craft harbor, Marina del Rey occupied a salt-marsh frequented only by ducks and hunters. The land has been referred to as mud flats although today, the proper name would be wetlands.
Marina del Rey ahs the 2nd most amounts of restaurants per square mile of any town in the United States with the exception of New York City which has the most. These restaurants can mostly be found at the Villa Marina Marketplace.
Points of Interest include Fisherman’s Village, Burton W. Chace Park, Marina del Rey Library and the Villa Marina Marketplace which you can visit on the eastern side of the town.
