or Megalochori accommodation? Megalochori is a village located in the northwest part of the Methana peninsula. It's located in a valley northwest of the volcanic summit; to the west of Methana, east of Ligouri, northeast of Kranidi, east northeast of Ermioni, northwest of Troizina and west of Poros.
Megalohori sits on a hill facing to the east of Santorini and as you approach its centre you will find the roads becoming thinner and a number of pretty alleyways. You can't fail to notice the large number of wine tasting places there and indeed the village is at the heart of the island's industry. Many of the bigger facilities, like Boutari, are on the village's outskirts among the vineyards.
The village itself has a nice mixture of cream and white Cycladic houses with a fair few churches for good measure. The walls are wonderfully rounded and lead down to a main square which hosts a couple of taverns. It's also worth seeing the wine factory of Boutaris, one of the most known firms of wine making in Greece. There are two local feasts 'panighyri' which takes place on the 1st of July and the feast of Aghioi Anargyri on the 15th of August, in honor of the Assumption of Virgin Mary.
