Turkey)
or Mugla accommodation? The city of Mugla is the administrative centre of the Mugla Province, and lies around twenty kilometers inland of the Aegean coast, in a small basin. In spite of its proximity to the coast, it is located at an altitude of over six hundred kilometers, and it makes an interesting change from seaside resorts like Bodrum and Fethiye, which are nearby. The bazaar, which dates to the Ottoman Empire, is a popular place to visit, and pick up a bargain or two, and historical sites like the 15th century Kursunlu Cami mosque, and the Vakiflar Hamam, or Turkish bath, which was built in 1258, are also well worth seeing. Wandering through the old quarter is a great way to see traditional Turkish architecture, and the Mugla City Museum will offer further insight, as well as the opportunity to see fossils, some of them up to nine million years old, that were discovered in the area. Therefore, while Mugla may not offer the seaside relaxation of some of its neighbors, it is still well worth a visit. - Browse the Mugla Map or compare Mugla accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
