United States)
or Muncie accommodation? Muncie is a city that belongs to Center Township inside Delaware County of the State of Indiana, United States. It is well known for being the birthplace of Ball Corporation and home of Ball State University and Ball Memorial Hospital Complex. It is nicknamed as “Middletown USA”; the city earned the nickname from a team of sociologists who conducted a series of study in the area and wanted to “disguise” the identity of the city.
First settled by Delaware Indians in the 1770s, the area was soon ceded over to the federal government in 1818 and the Indians were forced to move once again. By 1820, the area was ready for white settlers. The city was incorporated in 1865. It was named as Muncie after Munsee Town derived from “munsee” that means a member of the Delaware Indian tribe.
Like many areas in Indiana, Muncie had its fair share of combustible natural resources so that factories relying on this fuel means dominated the area in the 1880s. Soon, other industries and manufacturing began to sprout in the area. However, economic decline greatly shifted this manufacturing-oriented Muncie to a service provider.
Due to its long history, Muncie also has numerous historical landmarks and tourist attractions – some of these are the AMA National Model Aviation Museums & Flying Site, Muncie Children's Museum, and the Prairie Creek Reservoir and Campground. Some of the hotels that visitors can stay in are the Fairfield Inn of Muncie, Signature Inn-Muncie, and Super 8 Muncie. - Browse the Muncie Map or compare Muncie accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
