or Nashua accommodation? Nashua is also known to be the Gate City and is located in the Hillsborough County of New Hampshire, United States. The city is the second largest city in the whole state, in terms of population (87,150 in 2007). It is the only city to gain No. 1 ranking twice as the “Best Places to Live in America” – in 1987 and 1997 – as shown in the annual surveys of Money Magazine. It is also one of the safest places to live in the country.
The area that is now Nashua was once named Dunstable; it was a place where the Nashua River runs through. In fact, Nashua means a “beautiful stream with a pebbly bottom” in the Penacook language used by the Nashuway Indians who named the river. The name of the area was changed to Nashua on December 31, 1836. Following a tax dispute, the area was divided into two – the richer part north of the river and the less rich portion at the south – in 1842; still, both parts reconciled to create the city in 1853. Today, the city is part of the high-tech corridor of Boston.
