Newbury AccommodationSearching for hotels in Newbury ( United Kingdom) or Newbury accommodation? When one speaks of Newbury, in Berkshire in the South of England, it’s hard not to mention the adjoining town of Thatcham. Newbury itself is a market town with a population of around forty five thousand, but while Thatcham is around three miles from the centre of that town, the boundary between the two is somewhat blurred. To reach Newbury, you can fly into Reading, and from there, a train or taxi will take you into the town. Once in the town, there are buses, and the town centre is accessible on foot, although if you want to explore further afield, a car is required. There are two castles just outside Newbury. Donnington Castle was once an impressive structure, but having been reduced or torn down bit by bit since 1644, there’s little that remains of the original castle. The parts that are still visible are still worth a look though, and are free to view. The other castle is more of a stately home, known as Highclere Castle, and although it remains occupied by Lord and Lady Carnarvon, there are tours for the public. The West Berkshire Museum, housed in an old wharf side building, will reveal even more of the town’s history. There are several nice hotels in Newbury, and two of those are Hiltons, one in the city centre, and one in the north of the town. Whether you choose the well-known luxury of the brand name hotel, however, or a comfortable guesthouse, you are sure to find something that suits your needs and your pocket. - Browse the Newbury Map or compare Newbury accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs, Lodging & Hostels to Holiday & Caravan Parks.
