Let’s start our journey in Darwin, the NT’s vibrant capital with a rich history as a WWII allied military base and a disaster zone in the cyclone of 1974, where the city had to be rebuild after Cyclone Tracy. But there is even more to Darwin a town of only 100,000 people - it is made up of more than 50 different nationalities and is a melting pot for festivities, cuisine and events. Darwin accommodation is varied, from hotel stays and holiday parks to camping grounds and motels. Be sure to visit Litchfield National Park , the Tiwi Islands or the Mary River National Park for a sense of local adventure, eco lodging and history.

Heading east towards Kakadu and you enter a timeless world of aboriginal culture, rock art and unique bio-diversity. South towards Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs you reach Uluru Ayers Rock, a magnificent icon of the Australian Outback.
