or Oroville accommodation? The City of Gold, Oroville, is the county seat of Butte County in California. It is the site of one of California’s first gold mining sites, Bidwell Bar. The gold in the mine eventually disappeared and Bidwell Bar is now under Lake Oroville but the site was memorialized by the Bidwell Bar Bridge, the California Historical Landmark #314 and the very first suspension bridge in the state.
Another historic landmark in Oroville is the Chinese Temple and Garden which belong to the National Register of Historic Places. The city is also home to Oroville Dam which is among the world’s 20 largest dams, the Mother Orange Tree which is the oldest orange tree in Northern California, and Gold Country Casino which is owned and operated by the Maidu Indian tribe. It is possible to go hiking or running at the trails in Riverbend Park and Bedrock Park or go biking at the Brad Freeman Bike Trail.
