The town's public library in Nellingen is one to visit, with its huge collection of printed materials that was done locally spanning through all kind of topics for all age groups. Stop by the Municipal School of Music, the Technical Academy and the Ruit Sports School, which interest visitors and students each year.
Ostfildern provides two swimming pools, a cheerful music scene, well-equipped sports facilities and the new Scharnhausen Park district, with numerous, new architecture in a green environment. There is also the blazing star International Fireworks Festival in the summer held on during the third weekend of August.
Even though Ostfildern is a bit of a young town compared to some, it still has some historical sites, like the Evangelical Church of St Blaise and its monastery; the 17th century Scharnhäuser Castle; and the City Gallery in the City House.
