Payson (Arizona) AccommodationSearching for hotels in Payson (Arizona) ( United States) or Payson (Arizona) accommodation? Payson is a town in Gila County of Arizona, United States. It is sometimes called as “The Heart of Arizona” and is formed at the place where three important roads meet. The population in town is estimated to be at 15,407 in 2007. The area around the town had once been popularly known as Zane Grey Country but was changed to Rim Country in recent years.Payson was said to have been founded in 1882; it was first known as the Union Park or as Green Valley. When the town’s post office was established in 1884, Postmaster Frank C. Wise proposed the renaming of the town to Payson after Senator Louis Edwin Payson who made the establishment of the post office possible. Today, most of the land in Payson – 97% – is under the United States Forest Service as the town is surrounded by the Tonto National Forest. It is not surprising then that attractions in the area often point back to the forest – some of these are the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, Tonto Natural Bridge, Rumsey Park, Green Valley Park, and a tribal casino named Mazatzal Casino. Like many places in the country, finding a place where tourists can sleep comfortably is not a problem in Payson. Some options are the Falcon Crest Bed and Breakfast, Paysonglo Lodge, and Best Western Payson Inn. - Browse the Payson (Arizona) Map or compare Payson (Arizona) accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs, Lodging & Hostels to Holiday & Caravan Parks.
