or Pensacola Beach accommodation? Pensacola Beach is an unincorporated community on Santa Rosa Island that belongs to Escambia County in Florida, United States. Located on a barrier island, the natural beauty in the area is unmistakable – making it a magnet for tourists. It can be accessed through several bridges from the mainland and across the Fairpoint Peninsula.
The first written account of a person visiting Pensacola Beach was that of a lieutenant of the Conquistador Hernando de Soto, Francisco Maldonado, in as early as the winter of 1539. Twenty years later – in 1559 – the first settlement was led and created by Don Tristan de Luna y Arellano; there were 1500 settlers who came in 11 ships. However, the area experienced a hurricane that sank 5 ships and killed several hundreds of the settlers. The settlement was abandoned in 1561 but a new community blossomed after many years.
All the attractions in Pensacola Beach are related to the water – The Quietwater Beach Boardwalk, Fort Pickens, and various beaches. It is also home to some quaint and novelty houses – one notable example is the UFO-shaped Futuro house often called the Spaceship House.
There are plenty of options for accommodation in Pensacola Beach – some of these are the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front, SpringHill Suites by Marriott, Days Inn Pensacola Beachfront, and many other hotels and resorts right by the coastline. - Browse the Pensacola Beach Map or compare Pensacola Beach accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
