It is an important industrial hub in Russia, and lies near the foothills of the world famous Ural mountain range. Bolshoe International Airport has served the city of Perm since the fall of communism in Russia, prior to which no westerners were allowed entry to the city. Getting around in Perm can be tricky for non-Russian speakers, although there are trams, buses, and taxis in the city.
