or Pico Rivera accommodation? A city in southeastern Los Angeles County, California, Pico Rivera had a population of 63, 428 in the 2000 census. Pico Rivera was founded in 1748 from the merger of Pico and Rivera. The name of Pico came from Pio Pico who was the last Mexican governor of California.
Sitting in the alluvial plain between the San Gabriel River and Rio Hondo has resulted in a predominantly agricultural region. Since the 1950’s, however, the area was primarily residential. Its position below the Whittier Narrows makes Pico Rivera one of the ‘Gateway Cities.’
Many parks can be found in the city including Rio Vista Park, Rivera Park on Shade Lane, Smith Park on Rosemead and Mines, Pico Park on Beverly Blvd and Stream Land park at the northern end of Durfee Road.
Notable residents include Lupe Ontiveros, Librado Perez and Jaime Mendez.
