This little town has its roots in the middle ages, when it was an important port on the river, but there are still the remains of Roman villas in the area that prove that there were people in the region even before the town was founded. When in Pordenone, make sure that you visit the Town Art Museum, which not only displays local works, but is also housed in the 13th century Palazzo Ricchieri. There are also the 12th century Castello di Torre, and the Roman Villa of Torre, as well as many other historic sites to visit in this little town.
