or Rennes accommodation? Rennes is a city in the east of Brittany, in the north-western area of France. Rennes is the capital of the Bretagne region, as well as the Ille-et-Vilaine department. The old centre of the town is built on a hill, with the north side being much higher than the south side. It is situated at the corner of two rivers the Ille and the Vilaine. Rennes was one of the first towns in France to have its own television channel. While you are visiting Rennes there are many sights for you to visits such as the Parlement de Bretagne, which is the most famous 17th century building in Rennes. It was rebuilt after a fire in 1994. There’s are also the Basilica Saint-Sauveur, Les Halles Martenot, which host the third biggest market, the Mordelaises Gate, the remains of the 3rd century fortess, the Jehan Duchesne tower, St. Yves Chapel, St. Yves Chapel, Notre-Dame en Saint-Mélaine Church, and the Magnificent Park-The Parc Thabor, which is located in the historic centre. Rennes has a colourful tradition of timber frame houses which are situated along the roads of Saint-Sauveur, Saint-Georges, de Saint-Malo, Saint-Guillaume, des Dames, du Chapitre, Vasselot, Saint-Michel, de la Psallette, just to name a few. Other sights at the northwestern side of Rennes are the canal d'Ille-et-Rance of 1843, the two halls of the printer, Oberthür, which was built between 1870 and 1895, and the 17th century manor of Haute-Chalais, which is a granite chateau. After visiting the sights you may visit The Fine Arts Museum, Musée des Beaux, Musée de Bretagne, Museum of Farming and Rennes, and the Musée des Transmissions. Rennes spends heavily in arts and culture and a number of its festivals such as the music festival-Les Transmusicales, the les Tombées de la Nuit and Travelling-a cinematic festival are centered around this.
