In 1850, the name of the place was changed to Turner Brashear’s Stand then to King’s Inn. The building became an important headquarter of General Stephen Lee during the American Civil War until it was toppled down by fire. Several years later a campaign was launched to restore the place and develop it to a community where people can source out income from agriculture. Strawberries and pears were abundant and became the dominant product and source of income of the locals.

Ridgeland according to the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area is one of the busiest cities in Madison County, Mississippi. Adjacent to Ross Barnett Reservoir, south of Jackson and north of Madison, Ridgeland is also known for its Rick’s Recreation Centre. It is also the home of Holmes Community College where top students from a marching band graduate. In fact in 2008 and 2009 the city became popular for it having the best drumline and color guards.
