or Roses accommodation? The town and municipality of Roses is located on the Gulf of Roses, in Catalonia, Spain. It is a fishing port, as well as a popular tourist destination, and has a variety of attractions to offer the visitor. Roses was founded sometime between the 5th and the 8th century BC, by the ancient Greeks, who named it Rhodes. Later, around the 2nd century BC, the Romans spent some time as the residents and rulers of the area, and later, the Visigoths spent some time in the town. Thanks to this long history, there are several historic sites of interest in the town, including the ruins of the Greek and roman settlements. In 944, the Monastery of Santa Maria de Roses was founded, and it was around this building that the town grew. A museum now stands in the town, that is dedicated to the various cultures and eras of the town, and it is most certainly a must see for visitors.
