or Rostock accommodation? Rostock is the largest city in the north German state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Rostock is located on the Warnow river; the quarter of Warnemünde 12 km north of the city centre lies directly on the coast of the Baltic Sea. One of the most picturesque places in Rostock is the Neuer Markt (New Market Square), with the Town Hall built in Brick Gothic style, but transformed in the 18th century, with the addition of a Baroque facade and a Banqueting Hall. The square also preserved six original, beautifully restored, gable houses from the 15th and 16th centuries. The 15th-century Kerkhofhaus is considered the best preserved brick Gothic house in Rostock. The St. Mary`s Church, the Brick Gothic Nikolaikirche, the Kloster St Katharinen, Marienkirche -an imposing Brick Gothic church, the main pedestrian precinct, Kröpeliner Straße, and the fountain of zest for life (Brunnen der Lebensfreude) are also touristic sights. Rostocker Zoo, Steintor (Stone Gate), Kröpelin Gate and Kröplinerstrasse and Kulturhistorisches Museum are also places worth visiting.
Each year Rostock host some annual events some of which includes Hanse Sail festival, during which many large sailing ships and museum vessels are brought out to sea, an annual Jazz festival taking place in June called Ostsee-Jazz and Kurfilmfestival Fish. Other events include Sommer der Kulturen, Boulevardfest, Rostocker Kulturwoche among others.
