Sal Accommodation

Searching for hotels in Sal (Cape Verde) or Sal accommodation?  Sal is the littlest and most popular of the Cape Verde Islands, with Santa Maria the town main attraction. It is one of the three sandy eastern islands (Sal, Boa Vista and Maio) of the archipelago, with white sandy beaches and fairly flat.
The Island has long stretches of white sand beaches and crystal clear water that attracts water sport fanatics and tourist who loves the accommodation of resorts and hotels. Espargos town is close to the international airport, where bars, restaurants and shops operate. The primary central points are the pier and the town square, at the eastern side of the town small beaches that facilitates windsurfing and surfing activities.
Sal features some interesting sites like the volcano crater and the salt lake at Pedra de Lume. Tourists can enjoy day trips to the sand dunes in the nearby Boavista.
In February the streets of Mindelo is lit with sounds and sights of carnival which is reknown within the region. Carnival preparation starts in December, with the celebrations starting from 24th of February and continues through Ash Wednesday. The participants dress in costumes imitating queens, kings, witches, ballerinas and jesters.
At the western end oth the island you will find the larger hotels, popular beaches and dunes of Ponta Preta where new resorts are being erected. Palmeira the main port has a couple of restaurants and bars but no accommodation. Few hotels are located in Espargos but there are bigger food shops than Santa Maria. Pedra de Lume is a minor fishing settlement which is earmarked for a golf resort and marina and is also near to the ancient Salinas which is a campaigner international heritage site.
