or Salinas accommodation? The city of Salinas is the county seat of Monterrey County in Southern California. It is near the Salinas River, from which it gets its name, and it is a midsized city with around one hundred and fifty thousand people. Salinas is probably best known as the hometown of the award-winning novelist, John Steinbeck, but there are several other attractions in the city that will appeal to visitors. It is also one of the world’s biggest lettuce growing areas. The Salinas Municipal Airport does service a few small charter flights and helicopters, but it is generally a lot easier to take a bus or train into the city, or drive yourself. Once in Salinas, one of the biggest attractions is the California Rodeo Salinas, which is a Wild West Show that has been running since the early 1900’s. In July, the Big Week program runs, when cowboys from around the country arrive to compete.
