or San Bruno accommodation? This is a city located insane Mateo County, California and sits right next to the San Francisco International Airport and the Golden Gate National Cemetery. It extends from the flatlands near San Francisco Bay to the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
The city was originally the location of Urebure, an Ohlone village. It got its name from St. Bruno of Cologne who was the founder of a medieval monastic order, the Carthusian order of monks. It was Captain Bruno Heceta who gave the piece of land its name after he explored the western shore of San Francisco Bay in 1775. The area was largely used for pasture for livestock and eventually became dotted with dairy farms. Most of the area had become ranch land by the 1800s but serious growth only started to occur after the San Francisco earthquake and fire in 1906. San Bruno officially became a municipality in 1914.
Today, San Bruno is more popularly known as an airport city, being in close proximity to the San Francisco International airport. A million bond approved in 1945 for the improvement and expansion of the airport contributed to the success of the airport which in turn helped improve and expand the city. - Browse the San Bruno Map or compare San Bruno accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
