Santa Rosa stands for “Holy Rose” in English, which refers to the chapel which the founder of the town, Don Celso Baca, had built and named after his mother.

Although a generally dry town, Santa Rosa has been dubbed as the "City of Natural Lakes,” because of the Blue Hole and several other lakes in town. Blue Hole is a natural, bell-shaped pool that is considered as a geological phenomenon. A famous scuba diving spot, it is 80-feet deep, with clear blue waters, and a constant water temperature. Other lake attractions in town are the Park Lake Ponds, Perch Lake, Rock Lake State Fish Hatchery, Santa Rosa Lake State Park, and Janes-Wallace Park & Dam Lake.

Car fans will surely love to visit Santa Rosa’s Route 66 Auto Museum and be amazed at its vast collection of antique cars. The park is open generally from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except during April to October and winter, when the schedules are changes. Golfers on the other hand, may also take some time off in the 9-hole Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club for a round of golf.
