The Charminar where Quli Qutb Shah prayed for the end to the plague epidemic should also be visited. Chowmahalla and Falaknuma Palace as well as Golconda Fort are interesting areas to explore.
The tranquil Hussain Sagar Lake is a beautiful picnic area. You can indulge in a cup of coffee while watching a good movie at Sangeet Cinema and coffee joint. Several exciting festivals are held in Secundreabad and Hyperabad each year. These include the Bonalu Jatara held during the Ashada jathara, the Deccan Festival which highlights arts, crafts, culture and cuisine and the Sivratri which is a prehistoric festival in February. Muslims celebrate the Moharrum and the Lumbini Festival celebrates Buddhist heritage in December.
