The island’s lighthouse at Cape Spathi and the magnificent fortress on the highest peak in the island are major attractions. Also worth visiting are the ancient Mines of Megalo Livadi, the Taxiarhon Monastery and St. Athanasios Square with the neo-classic town hall. Serifos’ state of the art dam structure is quite a remarkable sight. There are several clubs, bars and pubs on the island available for leisure and entertainment. A number of cultural events are held each year. In August, the churches have many events with dancing and evening events, the Festival of Saint Constantine and Helen in Vagia occurs in May, Agios Panteleimonas in July and Panagia in Avesallo in September.
