or Shenzhen accommodation? Shenzhen is a city in the province of Guangdong in the People’s Republic of China. The city enjoys a sub-provincial status and is located directly north of Hong Kong. It is classified as a Special Economic Zone, the very first and arguable most successful in the country. The city is perhaps most known for its modern cityscape, which is largely the result of the rapid economic growth that occurred there.
Formerly known as ‘Bao’an County’ it was given prefecture status in the late 1970s. By the 1980s, Shenzhen was already nominated as a Special Economic Zone, which effectively helped to elevate its financial and business culture. The city’s establishment as a Special Economic Zone was credited as being catalytic in the economic revival of China.
The year 2001 saw Shenzhen’s working population balloon to 3.3 million. In 2008, the city GDP totaled to more than $780 billion. It is one of the top manufacturing hubs in the country. Some of the top high-tech companies in China including Huawei, Tencent, and ZTE can be found in Shenzhen. The high-tech producer Hon Hai, which is responsible for the manufacture of iPods, iPhones, Mac Notebooks, and Lenovo notebook, is also headquartered in Shenzhen.
Aside from being an industrial city, Shenzhen also has some notable attractions to offer its guests. These attractions include the Chinese Folk Culture Village, the Window of the World Happy Valley, the Safari Park, Splendid China, Minsk World, and so on.
