or Silver Spring accommodation? The census-designated place of Silver Spring is the third most populous in the State of Maryland, United States, yet Silver Spring remains to be an unincorporated area that belongs to Montgomery County.
It was in 1840 that Francis Preston Blair visited the area and found a spring glittering with chips of mica, a silicate mineral. He bought the lands around the spring, built a 20-room mansion, and named the place as Silver Spring. Since then, the history of the place is tied, one of or another to the Blair family and another politically active family, the Lee family. E. Brooke Lee, grandson of the founding father, is considered as the father of the modern Silver Spring for initiating new developments in the region.
Silver Spring hosts several festivals including a renowned film festival named Silverdocs. The place is also home to more than a hundred points of attraction – these include the Acorn Park, A Brushstroke of Discovery, Royce Hanson Urban Park, Woodside Urban Park, The Windows on Arts Alley, Penguin Rush Hour, Montgomery College Planetarium, and Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind.
