or Sonoma accommodation? Sonoma belongs to the Sonoma Valley of Sonoma County, California. It is the Sonoma Valley AVA Appellation’s center of wine industry. Once a colony of Spain, the city has a Mexican town format where most of the historical buildings are located in the Sonoma Plaza which is also the largest plaza in the State of California and a National Historic Landmark.
The city is considered to be the birthplace of the wine-making in the state; it also holds the annual Valley of the Moon Vintage Festival which is the oldest celebration of the winemaking heritage of California. Sonoma is also home to 3 of the first 10 California Historical Landmarks – the Mission San Francisco Solano (#3), General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo’s home called the Lachryma Montis or Tears of the Mountain (#4), and Bear Flag Monument (#7). It is also home to the Presidio of Sonoma which was the northernmost Mexican military post.
Other points of interest are the Jack London State Historic Park, Cornerstone Sonoma, The Sonoma Overlook Trail, and Quarryhill Botanic Garden. The Microsoft Windows Bliss – a photograph of a green landscape – was taken the city’s Stornetta’s Dairy.
