or St Albans accommodation? The city of St Albans is located in Hertfordshire, in the South of England, just a few miles north of London. It is a very old city, which can trace its roots to times that pre date even the Roman invasion of England. These days, however, it is a popular residence for commuters to London. In the early days of the town, it enjoyed significant political importance, and in fact, the first draft of the Magna Carta was drawn up in this town. The St Albans Cathedral, which was once the Abbey, and is tied to the town’s political importance, is still an important local landmark and a popular historic site for visitors. The High Altar screen alone is well worth having a look at, although the church in itself is fairly breathtaking. The 15th century stone clock tower is another important local site worth visiting, as is the remains of the Roman wall that once protected their settlement in the area.
