or St Leonards accommodation? The village of St Leonard’s is a small one, located in the Chiltern Hills area of Buckinghamshire, England. This little village started out as an Iron Age settlement, and later, when the Missenden Abbey was constructed in the 13th century, the town itself came into being. Saint Leonard’s church, which was built during the middle ages, remains one of the most important landmarks in the town, even though it was partially destroyed and rebuilt several times over the years, with the latest reconstruction having taken place in the 18th century. The church features two memorials to General Cornelius Wood, who was the primary benefactor in that last reconstruction. When it comes to entertainment, there is no better place to combine a little bit of history with ale, and a chance to meet the locals, than the White Lion. This was the first licensed alehouse in St Leonard’s, and has been open since 1714.
