or Stirling accommodation? The city of Stirling was once an ancient burgh of Scotland, but is now an important centre in the highlands area of Scotland. In spite of this, it is also the smallest city in Scotland, which a population in the region of just over forty thousand people. Stirling has been inhabited since the Stone Age, and therefore has a rich history to explore. Some of these are Stirling Castle, and the Church of the Holy Rood, which, alongside Westminster Abbey, is the only church to have held a coronation in Britain. Cambuskenneth Abbey is another religious and historically important site of interest, and the Wallace Monument represents the famous Scottish Freedom Fighter, William Wallace, who was a resident of the town. Another good idea is to walk around the area of town known to locals as the ‘Top of the Town’ which is the historic heart of Stirling. The streets here lead up to the Castle itself, and are cobblestoned and lined with shops selling souvenirs and local arts and crafts. The castle itself is also said to be haunted, so if you like ghost stories, this is a great place to visit. - Browse the Stirling Map or compare Stirling accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
