or Stockton-On-Tees accommodation? Stockton-on-Tees is a market town in the north east of England. It is a part of a larger borough, which collectively is home to around one hundred and eighty thousand residents, and incorporates Yarm, Thornaby and a few other villages. Buses are the easiest way to reach Stockton-on-Tees, and there is a local service too, that should get you to all the nearby sights. The town is also home to the world’s oldest railway station, and it was a part of the world’s first railway, and the steam passenger train that ran on it in 1825. Stockton-on-Tees was founded in the 12th century, when the manor was created. There was once a castle in the town, but it was destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in the 17th century. There is now a shopping centre, called Castlegate Centre, on the same spot that the castle once stood. The River Tees itself is another important sight in the area, and there are a variety of other attractions, from the Georgian buildings in the town, to local pubs, restaurants, and shops to explore. - Browse the Stockton-On-Tees Map or compare Stockton-On-Tees accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
