United States)
or Stuart (Florida) accommodation? Stuart is a city located in Florida’s Treasure Coast in the Martin County of Florida, United States. It is considered to be the Sailfish Capital of the World and is the county seat of Martin County. The region where Stuart belongs to is so named because of the numerous shipwrecks of cargo ships containing unknown quantities of gold and silver; these shipwrecks were attributed to hurricanes.
Just off the coast from Stuart is a sandbar which the notorious pirate Pedro Gilbert would use as lure for ships that he would plunder – this sandbar became known as Gilbert’s Bar. Today, it is used for attraction purposes, not for pirating but for tourism. In fact, the bar is home to The Elliott Museum and The House of Refuge which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is known to be the oldest structure on the Treasure Coast.
Hotels in Stuart include the Ramada Stuart-S. Federal Highway, Marriott Hotels Resorts Suites, Hutchinson Island Marriott Resort, and Pirate's Cove Resort and Marina Hotel.
