more » Welcome to Sydney, Australia's largest and most famous city, home to world famous tourist landmarks such as the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and Centrepoint. There is always plenty to see and do in Sydney, from BridgeClimb, providing an aerial view of the city to Bondi and the other beautiful beaches Manly, Cronulla, Palm Beach and Avalon.
Where to start? Circular Quay, in the thick of all the city action, with the Opera House on one side and the historic Rocks area on the other. World famous restaurants line the promonade, next to museums, the rail and ferry docks, apartments, hotels and commerical high rises. Head away from the Opera House toward the Rocks for pubs, clubs, bars and dining options. Circular Quay is a hub for Sydney transport, it is where Bus, Rail and Ferry meet. From the city, transport between Sydney's major attractions is plentiful. Luxury hotels including the Four Seasons, Intercontinental and Park Hyatt are all within this region. Taking a stroll down George Street and away from Circular Quay, you will pass the financial district and Martin Place - on a week day this strip is busy with pedestrians, bankers, couriers and analysts. The Westin, Medina and Sheraton hotels are all close by. Continuing along George Street you will arrive at Townhall and the Queen Victoria Building (or QVB). The QVB and the area surrounding it are a shopping mecca, from clothing to book stores, you can find it easily from the QVB (head underground to reach Town Hall railway station). The Hyatt and Sheraton hotels are close by. Turning right down Market Street towards the water and you will eventually reach Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay wharf. If you are looking for a bite to eat, or a drink, this is the place to be. There are plenty of eating choices along the water from pubs, bars and cafes to 5 star restaurants. There are various options for Darling Harbour hotels including the Ibis, Mercure and Star City Casino. For easy access to public transport try the Monorail or Light Rail nearby. Close to Darling Harbour are conference facilities for business meetings, events and trade shows as well as the Maritime Museum and Harbourside shopping centre for tourist pieces. Looking for Sun, Surf and Sand, take a bus to Bondi or Manly, the main beaches close to the city. Buses and trains to Bondi leave from Townhall regularly. « less |
