United Kingdom)
or Thurso accommodation? The town of Thurso might be a burgh of the county of Caithness, in the north coast of Scotland, but it was originally named by the Vikings, and the name means ‘Bulls Water’ in Old Norse. It has always been a port, even when it was under Norse rule, and there are several buildings, like the ruin of St Peter’s Kirk, which dates back to 1220, that remain from that era. This is a college town, with the main campus of the North Highlands College being located here, and is also located near to the Dounreay Nuclear Power Plant. There is a small museum in the town, a skate park, cinema and a nightclub, as well as several restaurants and pubs, serving up everything from traditional dishes to international cuisine. There are also, of course, beaches in the area, it being on the Atlantic coast of Scotland, and it is not only a popular surfing destination, but also the site of one of the legs of the UK Surfing tour. - Browse the Thurso Map or compare Thurso accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
