The Ulm Minster is a major attraction having the world's highest church steeple of over 500 meters high. The church also boasts a flight of over 768 steps. The 16th century Schiefes Haus known as the crooked house and the Alte Münz which is an old mint boasting a beautiful Renaissance Medieval style are both worth visiting. Along the river, one can see the remains of the city walls and the 14th-century Metzgerturm known as the butcher’s tower. The town hall dates back to the 14th century and displays fascinating multi-colored murals and an astronomical clock from the 16th century. The Krone Inn was a common resting place for German Officials in the 15th to 19th centuries. Wiblingen Abbey displays fine Baroque architecture. Albert Einstein Memorial can be seen at the home where the famous scientist was born. The University Botanical Garden and the Schapfen Mill Tower are must see places in Ulm. The Ulm Cathedral houses a state of the art museum with art works by famous artists such as Breughel, Warhol and Stella.
Ulm has many theatres which feature interesting exhibitions, galleries and cultural shows and events. Theatre Ulm is a major cultural centre where opera, operetta, stage play and ballet performances are held. Traditional festivals include the New Ulm City Festival, Binder Dance and Ulmer Volksfest. Culture Night is a major national event in September where performances and exhibitions are kept in museums, collections, theaters, cafes and bars, function rooms and public places late into the night. The Einstein Marathon, Night of the Museums and Christmas Fetes are other colorful and exciting events in Ulm. Ulm City is a great shopping area and good German food can be found at the city’s many restaurants.
