United Kingdom)
or Wigan accommodation? The borough of Wigan is located in the Greater Manchester metropolitan area, but is on the boundary of the county of Lancashire. The town is easily reached by car, bus, or train, and it’s about halfway between Manchester Airport, and John Lennon in Liverpool. The biggest tourist attraction in Wigan, ironically, started out as a joke. Known as the Wigan Pier, it’s actually a wooden overhand, where river barges used to load and off load their cargo. However, the joke became serious, and there’s now a pub, as well as a visitor centre at the ‘pier.’ Haigh Hall is an historic residence, that’s worth visiting, and it’s also surrounded by gardens, and two golf courses, as well as a children’s playground and a variety of other amenities and entertainments. One thing Wigan is not short of is nightlife, and in fact, the King Street area, where most of the pubs and clubs are located, draws visitors from around the country. There are also other bars, pubs, restaurants and other entertainments dotted throughout the town. When it comes to accommodation, there are several small establishments in Wigan, but if you’re looking for comfortable, familiar surroundings, then the Premier Inn group have two hotels just outside the town centre. - Browse the Wigan Map or compare Wigan accommodation from Hotels, Motels, B&Bs,
