or Winnemucca accommodation? Winnemucca, the county seat of Humboldt County in Nevada, United States, calls itself as “The City by Battle Mountain”. The city has been continuously occupied since around 1830, first, by beaver trappers who had established camp in the area and later by more permanent settlements. The area began to develop as a trading post named Frenchmans Ford, then as an agricultural, mining, and ranching community. The community’s name was changed in 1863 to Winnemucca in honor of the region’s principal Paiute Chief.
Today, Winnemucca is considered to be the Chukar Capitol (a type of gamebird) of the US; the city also offers lots of indoor and outdoor activities and sports for residents and tourists. Car shows, rodeos, agricultural and animal shows, ATV/biking activities, hunting games, boating and fishing competitions, and other activities abound. There are also plenty of nature parks – Vesco City Park, Pioneer Park, Riverview Park, Highland Park, and Veteran’s Park. There are also several ghost towns that appeal to tourists – Camp McGarry, Sulphur, Willow Point, and Camp Winfield Scott are just some of these.
