It is accessible by train and car, and is, in fact, only about twenty minutes away from Zurich, and its airport. Within the city, you will find buses, trains and car rental firms, which means that you should have no trouble getting around. When in Winterthur, there are plenty of sights to keep you busy. One of these is Rhine Falls, which is Europe’s tallest waterfall. Then there is the Castle Kyburg, which was built in 1024, and is now a museum dedicated to chronicling medieval Swiss life. Another museum worth visiting, particularly if you are travelling with children is the Technorama Swiss Science Centre. If you feel like getting out of the city, and into nature, then the short trip to Lake Zurich is worthwhile, and you can take a boat trip onto the lake itself. There are also walking tours of the city, known as CityStrolls, complete with English speaking guides. As you would imagine from a large city, Winterthur is well provided with nice restaurant, bars, and clubs.
